What is the number $x$ if

I. The LCM of x and 18 is 36.

II. The HCF of x and 18 is 2.

We know, HCF * LCM = x * y

$\therefore$ 2 * 36 = x * 18

So, x = 4

We need both the statements to get a unique value of x as HCF of 8 and 18 is also 2 but their LCM is not 36.

Also, either of them alone won't suffice.

So, the answer is B.
