Best answer 3 3 votes I'm assuming the question was to find out The number of squares that can be formed on an 8x8 chessboard. There are many different-sized squares on a chessboard. 1x1 square (marked with red colour ) = 64 2x2 square (marked with yellow colour ) = 49 3x3 square (marked with green colour ) = 36 4x4 square (marked with blue colour ) = 25 5x5 square (marked with violet colour ) = 16 6x6 square (marked with olive colour ) = 9 7x7 square (marked with pink colour ) = 4 8x8 square (marked with orange colour ) = 1 So, total no. of Squares = 64 + 49 + 36 + 25 + 16 + 9 + 4 + 1 = 204 Sukanya Das answered Dec 23, 2017 • selected Dec 26, 2017 by Rameez Raza Sukanya Das 5.5k points comment Share Follow 0 reply Please log in or register to add a comment.
