Answer the question based on the following information.

Rajiv reaches city B from city A in $4$ hours, driving at speed of $\text{35 kmph}$ for the first two hour and at $\text{45 kmph}$ for the next two hours. Aditi follows the same route, but drives at three different speeds: $30, 40$ and $\text{50 kmph}$, covering an equal distance in each speed segment. The two cars are similar with petrol consumption characteristics (km per litre) shown in the figure below.

The quantity of petrol consumed by Aditi for the journey is

  1. $8.3$ l
  2. $8.6$ l
  3. $8.9$ l
  4. $9.2$ l

Distance between A & B = 35*2  +  45* 2 =160 km

Distance covered by Aditi in each speed segment = $\frac{160}{3}$

petrol consumed by Aditi when he drives at 30kmph= $\frac{160}{3}*\frac{1}{16}$

petrol consumed by Aditi when he drives at 40kmph= $\frac{160}{3}*\frac{1}{24}$

petrol consumed by Aditi when he drives at 50kmph=$\frac{160}{3}*\frac{1}{16}$

The quantity of petrol consumed by Aditi for the journey is=

$\frac{160}{3}*\frac{1}{16}$ +$\frac{160}{3}*\frac{1}{24}$ +$\frac{160}{3}*\frac{1}{16}$ =8.91

Hence,Option(C)8.91 .
