Answer 48 meter

When B is 12 meters back from the finishing line A ends the race.

B went last 12 meters, when he gained 2 meters more from C (from 6 meters ahead to C when A finishes to 8 meters ahead to C when B finishes)

At the end of race B is  8 meters ahead from C

For 2 meter ahead from C, B needed to cover total 12 meters

"   8    "       "       "      C ,   B  "      "     "     " 12/2 *8 = 48 meters
